Children

Four children (0-6 years old) may travel free-of-charge with an escort. This includes children in baby carriages. A children’s single ticket must be purchased for all children that exceed this amount. School children may receive travel tickets for school journeys from their municipality. Children between 7–16 years old travel with discounted prices on Oulu region transport buses (in finnish Oulun seudun liikenne, OSL). Prepare to prove your age.

Youth

Young people between 17–24 years old may purchase a 30-day or 90-day season ticket with discounted prices. Both tickets can be loaded into your personal travel card, and the 30-day season ticket can be loaded into the OSL app.

Students

You may receive a school transport subsidy if you are a full-time student in an upper secondary institution and your school journey is long. See more information on Kela’s website.

If you are a student between 17-24 years old, you may purchase a 30-day season ticket with the youth discount from the Waltti online store by authenticating with a mobile certificate or with your bank information, or from Oulu10 service desk by proving your age with an official ID.

If you are a 25 years old or older full-time student, you may purchase a 30-day season ticket with the youth discount by updating your student status in “Opintopolku”. When purchasing from Oulu10, you must present an official ID and a certificate of student status to receive the discount.

Exchange students may purchase a 30-day seasonal ticket with the youth discount from Oulu10 service desk. If you are an exchange student between 17-24 years old, you will receive the discounted ticket if you present an official ID. If you are 25 years old or older, you must present an official ID and at least a 30-day certificate of student status in a school within the OSL service region.

65 years old

If you have turned 65 years old, you will receive a 25 % discount for single tickets purchased with a travel card on Mondays to Fridays and on mid-week holidays between the times 9.30–14.30. The discounted price is charged from your travel card automatically when purchasing single tickets during the discount periods.

People with disabilities

If you use a wheelchair, you and your escort may travel free-of-charge on Oulu Region Transport’s buses.

If you have an EU Disability Card (www.vammaiskortti.fi/en) with the A symbol, you must purchase a ticket for yourself, but your assistant may travel free-of-charge. Present the card to the driver as you board. The assistant must assist you for the entire duration of travel – from boarding to exiting the bus.

If you use a walker to assist your movement, you may travel free-of-charge on Oulu region transport buses from Mondays to Fridays, and mid-week holidays between the times 9.30–14.30.

Perambulators and strollers

You may travel free of charge with perambulators or strollers inside zones A and B. When crossing into a different zone from A or B (includes from A to B), you need to buy a ticket. Travelling inside any other zone with perambulators or strollers, you need to pay for your own journey.

Other

You may travel free-of-charge with baby carriages on journeys within zone A and zone B. If you cross over the zone boundary, you will have to purchase a ticket.

On all other zones, you must purchase a ticket for your own travel. War veterans may travel free-of-charge on Oulu region transport buses by presenting their Veteran Card. See the instructions on applying for Veteran Cards on Oulu’s website.

Police officers on duty in work uniform and in civilian clothes (must present their badge), and traffic wardens in work uniform may travel free-of-charge as well.
