Winter timetables effective from 6 August

Published:

OSL operates according to winter timetables from Wednesday, August 6. An exception applies to city lines 1, 2, 2N, 3, 5, and 5N, whose winter timetables will take effect on September 1.

Changes in Oulu

This coming winter, city lines 1, 2, 2N, 3, 5, and 5N will transition to winter timetables later and end the season earlier than other routes. Their winter schedule will run from September 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026. All other lines will follow winter timetables from August 6, 2025, to May 31, 2026.

A change on line 63 will bring a long-requested cross connection between Maikkula and Kaakkuri. The new route will operate from Niemenranta via Oulunsalo, Kaakkuri, and Maikkula to the city center. The terminus will be at Elokuvakeskus. Route segments between Oulunlahti–Limingantulli–City Center and OYS–Svaaninsuo will be removed.

Service will also expand into a new area this winter, with new line 10P running from Koskela to Ruskonselkä main police station. It will share the same route as line 10 to Heikinharju before continuing to Ruskonselkä.

Compared to last winter, service frequency will change for lines 11, 19, 36, and B. Line 11 will now run every hour. Weekend service on lines 19, 36, and B ended with the 2024–2025 winter timetable season.

New connections to Tyrnävä

Transportation between Tyrnävä and Oulu will be improved by aligning trips with peak demand.

Night services will expand with new line 52N, running from Oulu to Tyrnävä via Kempele, Tupos, and Liminka on Friday and Saturday nights.

Route 57 will be streamlined and extended to Tyrnävä. It will bypass Linnakangas and Kokkokangas, instead using Pohjantie to reduce travel time, and will pass through Murto on the way to Tyrnävä.

New line 56Z will connect Tyrnävä to Zeppelin via Murto and offer transfers to lines 50 and 51 to Oulu. It will replace the last weekday runs of lines 54 and 54B, improving connections from Murto but increasing overall travel time from Tyrnävä to Oulu.

Additionally, a new weekday morning trip on line 54B will depart from Tyrnävä and arrive in Oulu at 6:50 AM.

Simpler lines between Muhos and Oulu

All departures of lines 40A and 41A will become lines 40 and 41, extending their routes to Pekuri instead of ending at Oulu bus station.

As a result, lines 40 and 41 will now operate on weekends, while services for lines 40A and 41A will be discontinued. The change simplifies the network and enables direct weekend travel between Muhos and Oulu city center without transfers.

Transfer connection between Kempele and Oulunsalo

Line 55 service ended with the 2024–2025 winter schedule. From now on, travel between Kempele and Oulunsalo is possible using a streamlined transfer connection between lines 50 and 63. Their timetables are coordinated for smooth travel, even without a direct route.

About our planning

OSL follows local and city-specific service level plans in cooperation with municipalities and the City of Oulu. These changes aim to optimize operations and improve service where demand is highest. All adjustments will be in effect starting with the winter timetable season on August 6, 2025.
