The new outdoor advertising operator in the city of Oulu, Outshine, began construction work on new bus stop areas and shelters in June. There have been delays in the construction, partly due to reasons unrelated to Outshine.
Although some of the bus stops are fenced, all stops are normally in use for public transportation. The construction of the bus stop areas is estimated to last until the end of August.

Background on the competition for advertising space at bus stops
The city of Oulu held a competition for the bus shelters used in public transport that have advertising spaces. The competition was won by Outshine Ltd. The city’s previous outdoor advertising partner, JCDecaux Finland Ltd, is removing its bus shelters, which according to the company will serve public transport users in other cities.
The city of Oulu owns the bus stop areas. Outshine manages the advertising installations at the bus stop areas, the cleanliness of the bus shelters, maintenance, and upkeep. Outshine has exclusive rights to advertising at the bus stops it has built. The company pays dividends from the advertising sales at the bus shelters to the city of Oulu.
